Summer work (2017) for incoming French 3H students

Google Classroom will be used to post homework (devoirs), class assignments, and course materials. Please ask Mlle for the class code to join your class. If parents wish to follow homework and course materials, they should ask their son/daughter to show them the stream in their Google Classroom.

Le Wiki de Mlle Williams is a wikipage with a wealth of resources for practicing French. Check out the Extra Language Practice Page for support or enrichment or the Grand Concours Page for practice leading up to the National French Exam (given to French Honors courses in March).

    • Students will receive daily/weekly handouts that must be stored and organized
  • Paper for notes via either:
    • Spiral notebook with perforated pages, preferably with 3-holes
    • Loose-leaf paper in a section of the 3-ring binder
  • Folder for French class, either:
    • Spiral notebooks with pockets
    • Separate folder for French class only
  • Earbuds/Headphones to facilitate individual audio work with a Smartphone/Chromebook
III. These apps would be helpful to have on your Smartphone, if possible.

IV. How do you type French accent marks?
With a Chromebook: Here are two ways to be able to type French accents when on a Chromebook:
1. Install the Add-on, "Easy Accents" in Google Docs (Tutorial)
2. Add the extension, "Google Input Tools", to your Chrome Browser to change between keyboards

At Home: The following two links will give you some ways to type French accent marks on your computer:
Pour un PC
Pour un Mac

Or, you can change your keyboard to a French keyboard and memorize where the accented keys are located. I recommend this for lifelong French practices!

Typeit.org is another tool you can use to type messages quickly with accents.
V. Extra help hours
I am available for extra help on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday mornings before school beginning at 7am in room 116. As I am a coach during the Fall Spring season, all make-up assessments and extra help must take place before school time between September and November or during unit lunches on C, D, or E days. *French Club will meet during the unit lunch on A days and I work as a Technology Mentor for THS Staff during lunch on B days.

After school make-ups and help will be available after the end of volleyball season, usually at the end of November. Please just schedule an appointment for any after school sessions by e-mail.

I encourage all students to take advantage of my morning hours for make-ups and extra help as these are first come, first serve and no appointment required!
